The road to St. Gilgen

A bit sad to be leaving Salzburg but excited to be finally on the cycling trail we set of yesterday to St. Gilgen. We couldn’t believe the perfect weather and the quiet, smooth trail was bliss. Trish had said it was cycling heaven and we now believe!
Beautiful countryside, straight out of the Austrian travel brochures for 50 km. Green, green fields ( no fences ) which someone raised on an Aussie farm had only dreamed of, and a ring of spectacular mountains (Mt. Duneed should be ashamed…) dappled with autumn hues… Our first real riding and already we had ticked all the boxes on our wish list. Everything now will be a bonus!

I know the scenery when I see it, that was the pinicale of our riding tour, such a great lake and scenery, the cycling paths are the best. I recall riding along a valley looking up at huge mountains either side. I can see you enjoying it already…. enjoy the food, the strudel looks great.I fly home from Far North Qld to Geelong Wednesday.

Great to hear the first day of riding was more than perfect. You may need lots of hard hills to work off the food and beer!
