Welcome to Anton, the best restaurant in Passau. Passau is a rather wonderful city in Germany. We were there because it is where the Danube meets 2 other rivers, the Inn and the Ilz and it is where we began our travels along the Danube in earnest. Passau has amazing buildings dating back 1000 years. The Old Town is rather beautiful, with narrow, winding cobblestone laneways revealing secret after secret, and we found this one…Anton. Cosy, welcoming, smelling of delicious Italian fare and, best of all, cheap! The antipasto platter in the photo was sublime! We ate lunch and dinner there yesterday and would probably have been back today but for a 70 km ride along the Danube, which we are glad to say was another delight. We cries crossed the river a few times finding the best path and sunniest side. The scenery was what we had hoped for- river views, spectacular mountains, autumn colour everywhere and pretty villages. We finished the day in Aschach, back in Austria again for the next couple of weeks.
