Jan and Ian

We awoke today to a damp and grey Bratislava, drizzly rain and almost deserted streets despite it being Monday.
We weren’t deterred though and enjoyed the morning’s walk around the old town and the edges of the “newer” communist era city. Searching through the wonderful shops revealed lots of little treasures that wouldn’t survive two weeks in a bike bag so we left them for someone else to buy.
Bratislava is dotted with quirky statues and we managed to find most of them before pausing at the chocolaty cafe for a marvelously warming hot cherry chocolate… Yum!
The temp hovered around 6 for most of the day but dipped after lunch when a squally wind ripped through the battlements of the castle, high above town, and we spotted snow flakes in the air… tomorrow we resume rising towards Budapest and snow was not on the wish list. We’ll have to wait and see how Tuesday dawns. It should be interesting!
