The road to Budapest

I guess we have been on the “road to Budapest” ever since we left Salzburg but yesterday we really did ride the final piece of that road, a 30 km roll into our destination city.
After 1000 km, no rainy riding days (woo hoo!), countless towns, villages, corn fields, forests, swans, ducks, crossings of the Danube and a wonderful assortment of friendly and helpful folk along the way, we pedaled through the suburbs of Budapest and into the heart of a wonderful destination city.
It was a great feeling to have achieved what we had set out to do.

…oh, and the final irony? After 1000 puncture-free kilometres: a flat tyre 3 km from the finish!
