The riding today travelled the quiet road southwards through more tranquil rural properties. Limousin Cattle, wheat fields and plum orchards dotted the rolling hills (we’d had so few real hills on our rides- some leg muscles had a shock today!) Every now and then a new rural activity was passed, foie gras production!

We reached Lanouaille just in time for lunch, shared with some local tradies in fluoro jackets sitting down to enjoy their delicate ham salad entre, fricassee chicken, cheese selection and custard filled pastry. Not a dim-sim or pie to be seen!

Finally it was time to venture the 1 km up the road to Chateau La Durantie, the wedding venue. It is only 29 kilometres from St. Yrieix to La Durantie but arriving here was like entering another world. From our humble farmhouse B&B last night to a grand estate, the sort of chateau we have been paying ???9 to visit, and it is home for 5 days. Amazing.
