The covered bridges of Vermont…

Ever since Jan saw “Bridges of Madison County” she has wanted to see a covered bridge in real life…perhaps to find hidden notes…
But those bridges are in Iowa, not New England- luckily Vermont has its very own covered bridges, about twenty of them in fact, and happily we were right in their neighbourhood!
Apparently they were covered to preserve the expensive decking timber and the fact that so many have survived since the 1800s justifies the expense.
Here are some of the eight we found, including a rare “triple crossing” video!
