Jan and Ian

Cheung Chau Island…

Forty minutes by ferry and we were in Cheung Chau, a little reminder of what Hong Kong may have been like if there weren’t a gazillion people living there now.
Jan and I visited 13 years ago and apart from a few more buildings away from the old town and a reduction in the amount of fluoro paint used in the restaurants’ advertising signs, things were pretty much the same: inexpensive (but good) seafood restaurants, crowds of day-trippers from Big Hong Kong, traditional lifestyles, people living on boats in the harbour, narrow lane way shopping, shabby & tumble-down buildings and a frantic/slow sort of vibe… Still worth a visit, happily.
Oh, and it rained a lot: just for added atmosphere ☔️
