Jan and Ian

A rainy day in London Town…

We’ve had so much beautiful spring weather but ttoday turned wet. Really wet. Kind of like, there’s water flooding into the underground wet!
Luckily only for half an hour of so, most of the rest of the day was drizzly/showery sort of wet.
But that added up to quite a bit of wet…
Actually it was rather nice and seeing as we had decided to catch the river shuttle to Greenwich, it was pretty nice sitting in the boat looking through the misted-up windows as we passed by the Thames’s famous sights, all smeary looking and greyish. The Eye, the Tower, St. Paul’s; a nice way to revisit them.
And Greenwich itself was beautiful. Even Jan hadn’t been there before, so we all discovered it for the first time together: lovely parkland, the fascinating story of time and navigation at the observatory and a pretty town with a market, a pie shop that hadn’t changed its menu for 120 years and 70 pubs. What’s not to like?
Oh, and did I mention it rained?
