From Geneva we travelled by train more than half-way across Switzerland to Tasch, a small rural village which is also a dormitory settlement for the Zermatt/Matterhorn ski fields. Our motivation for over-nighting here was simple: accommodation is about 1/2 to 1/4 the price in Zermatt, even with the daily 12 minute train shuttle to the ski fields!
Our quiet little home for two nights was a pretty good find, actually. The scenery is, as seems the norm in Switzerland, beautiful, we could walk a short distance and be in a rural environment with monochrome goats and winter live-stock barns, we got to witness a partial solar eclipse and, best of all, there was a giant Lindt bunny! Pretty good for a cheap overnighter!
