Today’s ride was only about 38 kilometres bit what it lacked in distance it more than made up for in WINDMILLS!
Over two-dozen of them lined the cycle paths as we dropped down below sea level between Schoonhoven and Rotterdam. Most have been lovingly restored and a few were even turning powerfully in the stiff breeze.
They are a mightily impressive sight, especially when you have as beautiful a day as we enjoyed today. The stretch along the canal, as Rotterdam appeared upon the horizon, is rightfully considered an iconic Dutch landscape. Absolutely brilliant!
